Overview

Dental emergencies do not wait for a convenient appointment slot. Diamond Dentistry reserves time for urgent issues so patients can be seen quickly when something goes wrong — a sports injury, a fall, biting into something hard, or a tooth that has gradually escalated to severe pain. Dr. Jill Rowland prioritizes pain relief and stabilization, then maps out whatever follow-up restoration the situation needs.

When to Call

  • A tooth that has been knocked out, fractured, or pushed out of position

  • Severe or escalating tooth pain, especially with swelling or fever

  • A lost crown, filling, or veneer

  • An abscess or visible facial swelling

  • Bleeding that does not stop after fifteen minutes of gentle pressure

  • Damage to soft tissue (lip, tongue, cheek) accompanying a dental injury

What the Visit Looks Like

Dr. Rowland starts by understanding what happened and what you are feeling, then performs a focused exam with digital X-rays as needed to see internal damage. Treatment is whatever the situation calls for: pain control, infection management, a temporary crown or filling, splinting a loosened tooth, or scheduling a follow-up for definitive restoration once the acute issue is handled.

What to Do Before You Arrive

  • Knocked-out tooth. Hold by the crown (not the root), rinse gently if dirty, and place back in the socket if possible. If not, store in milk or saliva. Time matters — head straight in.

  • Cracked tooth. Rinse with warm water and apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek to control swelling.

  • Severe pain. Avoid heat. Cold compress and over-the-counter pain reliever (per package directions) until you arrive.
