Mouth Guards
Custom sports mouth guards — lab-fabricated for your bite — that protect teeth, lips, and jaw during contact sports and high-impact athletics.
Overview
If you or your child plays a contact sport, a properly fitted mouth guard protects more than the teeth alone. It absorbs impact, shields the lips and tongue from the inside of the teeth, and reduces the force transmitted through the jaw. Dr. Jill Rowland fabricates custom guards at Diamond Dentistry that are molded to your specific bite — a meaningful step up from boil-and-bite versions sold at sporting-goods stores, both in protection and in how comfortable they are to wear through a full game.
How a Custom Guard Is Made
The team captures digital impressions of your upper (and sometimes lower) arch, and the dental lab fabricates the guard from athlete-grade material. You return for a fitting visit to confirm the guard sits snugly against the teeth without interfering with breathing or speech.
Why It Is Worth It
Higher impact absorption than a stock or boil-and-bite product
Reduces the risk of soft-tissue lacerations to lips, cheeks, and tongue
Helps protect against jaw injury and concussion-level forces
Better fit means athletes actually keep it in their mouth instead of holding it in their hand on the sideline
Built to hold up to a full season of regular wear
